How to Apply & Remove
A good fit, careful prep and gentle removal make all the difference. Choose the instructions for your adhesive, and always follow the directions supplied with your actual set.
1. Find your fit
Lay out the nails for both hands before using adhesive. Each tip should cover your natural nail comfortably from side to side without pressing into the skin. Check all ten nails separately; your left and right hands may differ. Use the size guide and the measurements for that exact product.
2. Prepare your natural nails
- Remove old polish or adhesive as directed. Wash your hands and dry them thoroughly.
- Gently move back the cuticle only if needed; do not cut or damage the surrounding skin.
- If your product instructions call for it, lightly buff and use the recommended prep wipe to remove surface oil. Avoid over-buffing.
- Apply only to healthy nails and intact skin. Check which adhesive and tools are actually included with your set.
3A. Apply with adhesive tabs
- Choose a tab that fits inside your natural nail without touching the skin.
- For separate tabs, apply the tab to your natural nail, smooth it firmly and remove the protective film. For pre-attached tabs, follow the set's instructions.
- Align the press-on nail just above the cuticle, then lower it onto the nail without trapping air.
- Press across the centre and sides for the time stated on the adhesive packaging. Apply thumbs last if that makes handling easier.
3B. Apply with press-on nail glue
- Use glue specifically intended for press-on nails. Follow its directions for where and how much glue to apply; a larger amount does not necessarily improve adhesion.
- Keep glue away from skin and eyes. Position the tip just above the cuticle and lower it gently onto the natural nail.
- Hold steadily for the time specified on the glue label. Do not let glue overflow onto surrounding skin.
- Allow the stated setting time before water, lotion or oil. Do not substitute household glue or UV-curing gel for ordinary press-on nail glue.
4. Wear and care
Follow the adhesive's guidance on wear time and water exposure. Keep nails clean and dry, use gloves for cleaning, and avoid using your tips to open packages or cans. Large stones and raised charms can catch on fabric, so handle them with care. If a nail becomes loose, remove it according to the adhesive instructions instead of trapping moisture underneath.
5. Remove gently
Never pull, pry or force nails off. For tabs, follow the manufacturer's loosening method; use warm water or oil only if recommended for that adhesive. For glue, use a compatible nail-glue remover exactly as directed and allow the bond to soften. If there is resistance, pause and repeat the recommended process.
Acetone can damage some press-on tips, coatings or decorations. Check compatibility before using it, especially if you hope to reuse the set. Remove residue gently and moisturize after removal. Stop use if irritation develops.
Reuse, toes and younger wearers
Reuse is possible only where the product permits it and the tips remain clean, intact and suitable after removal. The number of possible wears varies by product and condition. For toenails, use the size and application directions supplied for that toe set, and avoid pressure from tight shoes.
Use children's products only within their stated age guidance and under adult supervision. Keep nail glue and loose decorations out of reach of young children. The directions for adult glue-on sets should not be assumed suitable for children.
